Johns Hopkins SAIS Awards Winners in Its Third Annual Walmart Global Policy Challenge

In 2022, SAIS Global Careers began its collaboration with Walmart’s Government Affairs and Global Public Policy teams to launch the now third annual Walmart Global Policy Challenge. This program, developed and managed by Rebecca Aman, Sr. Associate Director of SAIS Global Careers, pairs teams of students with Walmart team members to research and offer recommendations on real-world policy issues.

Each year, Walmart gives Global Careers $50,000 to manage the competition, $42,000 of which is awarded as prizes to winners, and the balance helps support administrative costs associated with the program.

In this year’s Challenge, 27 teams (108 SAIS participants, representing all three campuses) tackled issues spanning trade, technology, data, international organizations, UN’s sustainable development goals, environment, energy, DEI, and education/training, among others.

Following two rounds of competition, eight teams took home over 40K in scholarship prizes.
