A Message From Our Director

Dear reader,

Greetings from the UAE.

These past two months have brought significant changes across our nation – from federal policy shifts to the wildfires in LA to evolving corporate practices. It’s made me reflect deeply on the enduring wisdom of leaders like Frederick Douglass, who reminded us that “Without struggle, there is no progress,” and Maya Angelou, whose words “Try to be a rainbow in someone’s cloud” feel particularly relevant today. These voices from our shared American history remind us of our capacity to rise above differences and work toward common ground.

It’s easy to get caught in the news spiral and stay there, but we all have work to do — to move forward based on our values, focus on connection, and be a rainbow to others where we can. I reflected on Linkedin about my best meetings and how we can receive others with respect and hospitality.

In the spirit of Valentine’s Day, our student writer Daniela delves into the relationships we build with job seekers— and how to make the best of them.

What we’ve been up to:

• Our engineering online graduate programs continue to be top ranked!
• JHU students tackled real-world tech challenges at Bloomberg HQ with an immersive workshop. If you’d like to host something similar, reply to this email.
• Carey Business School students explored innovation at Amazon and Microsoft, connecting with alumni and diving into cutting-edge tech in Seattle.
• We were in SF! And had an amazing time exploring tech opportunities with our alum and the tech companies they represent. e.g. Life360, SnapDoc, and Unified Vision.
• Our MS in marketing students delved into the world of marketing with top brand agencies in Baltimore.
