A Hopkins Student’s Take on What Makes Recruiters Memorable

Dear reader,

I’m Daniela Valdes, a rising junior at Hopkins and the current writer/editor at Hire Hopkins. Usually, our amazing director Alia writes this note, but this month, I’m stepping in to offer a fresh, student perspective.

This summer, I finally crossed something off my bucket list: I went skydiving! Free-falling thousands of feet through the air felt extreme, but the experience showed me I don’t need to fear making big leaps in other parts of my life, too.

As a neuroscience major, I’ve been pretty set on the pre-med path, but lately I’ve been exploring interests like finance and business. I don’t have to stay in one lane just because that’s where I started, so I’m bringing that same fearlessness into my junior year and into each conversation about what’s next.

Students attend our recruiter events (virtually or on campus) with the same mindset, feeling empowered and open to all possibilities. From the student side of the table, I share a few ways you can leave a positive, lasting impression. 

Thank you for the ways you continue to show up for Hopkins students! Your time, guidance, and engagement matter more than you know. Here’s to a new year full of meaningful connections!
