As 2025 comes to a close, your year in Hopkins recruiting told a clear story: more events, stronger pipelines, and sharper data on where top talent is headed next. Over 100,000 applications flowed through our Handshake job board, the university’s recruiting platform where your team can post roles, message students directly, and view talent insights across all Hopkins schools. Students also showed up in force at over 500 employer events.
Here’s your Hopkins Recruiting Wrapped: The events, highlights, trend, and how to seize your recruiting advantage next season.
Your Top Event: Future Fest
If you joined Future Fest this fall, you were part of our biggest hiring event this year.
More than 150 employers met nearly 2,000 Hopkins students, from undergraduates to PhDs, during our sixth annual Future Fest Career Fair, Hopkins’ signature recruiting and career exploration event.
Across two weeks, Future Fest gave you direct access to meet face-to-face with qualified candidates and to build your brand on campus through industry-focused in-person and virtual career fairs. Â Â
Why it worked for employers:
Targeted access
Students signed up for specific industry fairs, from Consulting and Finance to Biotech, Engineering, and Tech, making it easier to find candidates already interested in your sector.
Flexible Format
Virtual options, like the STEM Career fair, let your team meet top talent without travel.
On-the-Spot Interviews
Employers had the opportunity to participate in fast-track 15 min screening interviews with prospective candidates.
Faster, Better Matches
Employers received resumes directly from high-intent candidates, as well as a resume book of all attendees after the event.
The Takeaway for 2026
Small, sector-focused events drive more meaningful engagement, creating a focused setting where you can connect with candidates beyond their resumes and quickly identify promising talent.
On Repeat: Where Hopkins Students Applied in 2025
Small, sector-focused events drive more meaningful engagement, creating a focused setting where you can connect with candidates beyond their resumes and quickly identify promising talent.
This year, based on our Handshake job applications data across all 10 school and all degree levels, students applied to companies all over the world.
- Industries with the Highest Volume of Applications: Technology, Investment, Financial Services, and Consulting
- Most Desired Careers: Data & Analytics, Finance, Web & Software Engineering, Hardware Engineering, and IT.
What that means for you:
Student interest and competition for data-informed, technical, and analytical roles are high. Stand out by highlighting roles, data fluency, and business analysis are most important in your company, even if it’s on teams students might not expect.
Tailoring your university recruiting strategy and attending targeted industry-specific career events can help you reach the candidates who are the best fit for your roles (not just the ones who apply in the largest numbers)
Why were they popular?
Market Demand
The US Bureau of Labor Statistics projects faster-than-average growth in business and financial roles from 2024 to 2034. This trend continues to motivate students’ interest in investment and financial services roles.
Visible Employer Brands and Alumni Networks
Organizations with a strong brand presence at events, combined with active alumni in those companies, drove student engagement over the last year. Students interested in Investment and Financial Services gravitated toward well-known organizations such as JP Morgan, BlackRock, and Goldman Sachs, while also applying across a wide range of firms in the sector.
Academic Alignment
Hopkins’ deep strengths in Engineering, Applied Math, and data-driven disciplines develop industry-ready talent for some of the most popular job functions
With the growing integration of AI and a broader industry shift toward data-driven outcomes, more students are building interdisciplinary skills that can adapt to evolving tools and technologies.
