Are you curious about the many career paths within the medical profession and looking for guidance on how to chart your own path?Join us to hear insights from professionals across various medical fields as they share how they navigated their journeys, built experience, and discovered where they could make the most impact. Learn how to take full advantage of your Hopkins experience as you begin exploring the world of healthcare. The first hour will feature a panel featuring current professionals in the medical field, followed by dedicated time to network with panelists and fellow attendees.

Are you interested in entering the medical profession and want guidance on how to set yourself up for success? Hear advice and pointers on maximizing your Hopkins experience, gaining clinical experience, preparing for application cycles, and so much more from current JHU upperclass students who are exploring their medical aspirations.  This is a great opportunity to learn from and cultivate connections with one of the best resources you can find – one another! The first hour of the session will consist of a student-led panel, while the remaining time is reserved for networking with panelists and attendees.

Join CapYear Academy’s CEO, R.T. Arnold, for an exclusive workshop for Johns Hopkins University that dives into the minds of clinical hiring managers. This session will explore key strategies for pre-health students looking to gain valuable clinical experience, including: 1)Which types of practices are most likely to offer opportunities 2)How to avoid common mistakes in job applications and interviews 3) How employers review and screen resumes. Don’t miss this chance to gain insider knowledge and feedback to boost your clinical career.

Thurs. Feb. 12th 6-7:30, virtual – Careers in Mental Health Panel (register on Hopkins Groups)
Come meet the diverse professionals working behind the scenes (and in the front lines!) of mental health. This panel brings together specialists across mental health. Discover different career paths, learn what the work really looks like, and get inspired to shape your own story in mental wellness.

Join Dr. Charles Jaffe, Professor in the Department of Medicine at UC San Diego, to explore the evolving landscape of healthcare technology. With extensive training from Johns Hopkins and Duke Universities, Dr. Jaffe has held several influential roles, including Senior Global Strategist at Intel and VP of Medical Informatics at AstraZeneca. This is a great opportunity to gain insights from his impressive career in clinical informatics and discuss the importance of healthcare technology in shaping the future of medicine.

Fri. Feb. 13th 2-4:30pm, Bloomberg Public Health Lab Tours @ Public Health
Join Bloomberg Public Health to learn more about utilizing a public health masters degree for your gap year and experiential development in medicine.
2PM- Meet at Bloomberg Student Union with BPH admissions team
2:30PM- Ride to the Bloomberg Pubic Health Campus
3-4PM – 20 min meet and greets with 3 labs with faculty and grad researchers
4-4:30PM – Return to campus

The Life Design Lab, in partnership with the Hopkins Emergency Response Organization (HERO), is offering CPR Training for students who want to earn their official CPR certification. This is a fantastic opportunity to enhance your qualifications and be prepared to respond in emergencies.

  • What are Mentoring Meetups?
    • Mentoring Meetups are a casual way to pair students and alumni for mentoring conversations around affinities, identities, industry areas, and shared career interests. The Clinical Healthcare Mentor Meet-up event will pair interested students with alumni who have a background/degree in those fields. 

Goals/Mission of Mentoring Meetups
Each student will have a 30-45 minute conversation with a mentor during the virtual event. Each mentor will actively listen to the needs of the student they speak with, and provide guidance on a range of the topics, helping students to navigate through their career journey.
