OneHop for Faculty and Staff

Connecting with an alumni mentor can further reinforce what students are being taught inside and outside of the classroom. With your help the culture of mentorship at Johns Hopkins will become even more impactful. The work is just beginning!

How can I incorporate OneHop into the work that I do?

OneHop can be used by faculty and staff to encourage quality networking skill building and mentorship relationships.

  • Create an account on OneHop to see the impact for yourself. You can be an active participant serving as a mentor by saying “Yes” when asked if you want to join the community
  • Be a silent observer to gain familiarity with the platform by saying “No” when asked if you want to join the community.
  • Collaborate with Hopkins Connect in planning your department’s networking event
  • Host a virtual Mentoring Meetup via OneHop
  • Utilize the flash mentorship option to have students do informational interviews
  • Request a OneHop overview or demo for your department, student organization, etc.
  • Request promotional materials to keep on hand, display, and distribute
  • Invite us to be a part of your event even if that means just setting up a promo or informational table
  • Manually matching mentorship pairings let’s chat how you can use the in-platform features to make the process easier for you
  • Need a central communication hub for your current mentorship program (peer to peer, student and faculty, etc.) think about launching a group or program
  • OneHop Connect Monthly – Hopkins Connect launched a monthly newsletter on the OneHop platform. Customized versions of the newsletter go out to staff, students, and alumni the first week of each month. Content includes events, updates, volunteer requests, etc.
  • Have news you’d want to share, looking to source alumni participation, or want to highlight an upcoming event? For more information or to submit content email onehop@jhu.edu
  • For events that you would like our assistance on such as sourcing alumni participation we ask that you submit your request at least 45 days in advance
  • The more specific the ask is such as attending in-person the longer it may take to identify participants.
  • Request staff admin access to OneHop and get trained to be able to source alumni directly as your need arises.
  • Post requests and events on the main discussion board of OneHop
  • Utilize the pre-semester periods such as summer to connect with OneHop to plan in advance if you would like our assistance for the fall and utilize winter break for the spring
  • Tag us or send us content to post on Instagram onehop_jhu
