Whether you’re just beginning to think about your future or preparing for your next big opportunity, the kickoff is the perfect place to learn what Future Fest has to offer and how you can make the most of the weeks ahead. Here’s what you can expect:

Check In & Get Started- Stop by the Life Design Lab to pick up your Future Fest materials, explore the schedule of events, and learn how to participate throughout the festival.

Explore Life Design- Discover the resources, programs, and opportunities available through the Life Design Lab. Participate in interactive activities designed to help you reflect on your interests, explore possibilities, and take your next step with confidence.

Connect with the Community- Meet Life Design Educators, connect with fellow students, and learn how the Life Design Lab can support you throughout your Johns Hopkins journey. Whether you’re interested in internships, careers, graduate school, networking, or simply exploring what’s possible, Future Fest is designed to help you build skills, make connections, and take meaningful steps toward your future.

Students who attend one of our designated Can’t-Miss in-person Future Fest events will receive Priority Access to the Career Fair on September 18th—giving you entry 30 minutes before general admission to connect with employers before the crowds arrive.

Here’s how to unlock early access:

Step 1: Attend any Can’t-Miss in-person Future Fest event to receive your Future Fest lanyard and nametag.
Step 2: Bring your lanyard and nametag with you to the Career Fair for early entry access.

Future Fest is a series of events that is aimed at helping you get curious, imagine possible lives, experience more, and craft your story so that you feel more confident designing a fulfilling life. Future Fest will have opportunities spread across 2 weeks, September 4-18, that will help you learn about different career paths, and build connections with alumni, employers, and other students. We will kick off the last week with our virtual fair on September 15th and end the week of September 18th with our in-person career fair! Students with priority seating status will be able to enter the Career Fair 30 minutes early! You must present your lanyard for early access.

During this fair, you can:

• Gain direct access to recruiters and program staff to learn about internships, fellowships, and entry-level roles.
• Connect with employers nationwide, including remote and west coast opportunities.
• Meet several employers in a short amount of time and expand your network.

To participate, you’ll need to register for group and/or 1:1 sessions in Handshake. All conversations will take place through the Handshake platform.

Please note: video-chat-ready professional dress is strongly encouraged to attend the virtual career fair.

The Life Design Lab, SAIS, and Carey Business School are excited to collaborate on our 2nd annual career fair in DC with employers from the government, non-profit, marketing, economics, and consulting industries. You will be able to visit 20+ employers who are searching for talented Hopkins students.

As part of Future Fest, the Master’s Life Design Hub (MLDH) will host “AAP Welcome Hour: Meet Your Career Partner,” an in-person welcome session for AAP students across DC and Baltimore campuses. This event introduces students to their dedicated Life Design Educator, highlights MLDH career resources and services, and promotes key Future Fest opportunities, especially the DC Career Fair, workshops, employer sessions, and networking events. 

Students will learn how to maximize these programs to support career exploration, job searching, and professional growth while also building connections with peers and the broader AAP community.

This session serves as an early semester launch point to increase career readiness, encourage Future Fest participation, and connect students with the tools needed for long-term success.

Interested in launching your career with one of the nation’s leading financial institutions? 

Join Wells Fargo for an exclusive Business Showcase for Graduate Students highlighting the Quantitative Analytics Program (QAP). During this session, Wells Fargo representatives will provide an overview of the QAP program, including the different tracks students can apply for, key skills and qualifications sought in candidates, professional development opportunities, and the impact QAP analysts have across the organization.

Following the program overview, hear directly from Wells Fargo professionals and alumni of the QAP program during a panel discussion as they share their experiences. The event will conclude with an open networking reception, providing attendees the opportunity to connect with recruiters, program representatives, and alumni to ask questions. Whether you’re interested in analytics, finance, risk management, data science, risk management, mathematics, or business leadership, this event offers valuable insights into career pathways at Wells Fargo and the QAP experience.

Kick off the semester with the career skill that can change everything: networking.

Built by former international students for international students, this high-energy bootcamp is your chance to stop feeling awkward, start building real confidence, and learn exactly how to connect with the right people. From polishing your LinkedIn to crafting a standout elevator pitch, mastering coffee chats, and practicing live networking conversations, you’ll leave with tools you can use right away.

Led by Jashin Lin, Harvard Business School alum, top-rated career lecturer at Boston University, and leading social media voice on career development. Growbie, the Harvard-backed venture she founded, has empowered over 3,000 international students to build unshakable career confidence, master networking, and achieve standout success in the U.S. job market.

And last year, students loved it: the bootcamp earned a 95.8 Net Promoter Score. One student said, “Networking is key!” while others shared that it helped them become “brave and confident.” Best of all, this isn’t just theory — it leads to real opportunities. One student who reached out to an alumni during the event last year left with a meeting already scheduled for an informational interview.

USCIS increasingly reviews maintenance of status for OPT and STEM OPT applicants — including students’ LinkedIn profiles and resumes. This joint presentation will explain how to present work experiences accurately to avoid raising questions about unauthorized employment. We’ll cover differences between volunteer, unpaid, and paid roles; how to align LinkedIn and resume entries with your current F-1 or J-1 work authorization; and examples of problematic language to avoid.  Attendees will also learn practical record-keeping strategies: what documents to save, how long to retain them, and simple systems for storing copies securely. The session combines compliance guidance with career-branding tips so students can showcase experience effectively without risking their status.

The Whiting School of Engineering invites Whiting School masters students and alumni to attend its first Connect-a-thon Speed Networking event. Current students will rotate through a series of small groups led by alumni members from a variety of backgrounds. This is a great opportunity for students to learn about the importance of good first impressions, fine tune their professional goals and expand their professional network.
