Learn More About Haley‘s Story
I moved to Colorado from Ohio when I was 25, during the great recession. I was working in the credit industry, doing collections on charge off accounts, and I realized I needed a change in my life. I was able to find a job in the healthcare industry, even though I had never worked in it before, and 2 weeks later, I made the leap to change my life, and I have never looked back. Moving to Colorado has given me the opportunity to expand my skillset, network, and career pathways.
When I found out I was pregnant with my son, I knew immediately that I wanted him to be with me at my graduation. Taking comprehensive exams and my defending my dissertation proposal while pregnant was challenging and I even was told that many people who have a child don’t finish their last semester. Well, I did and I graduated (even COVID couldn’t stop me)! I am the first of my family to graduate college and earn a doctorate, so it was extremely special to have my son, my mother, and my grandmother with me at the graduation.
