What to expect at Future Fest 2024

Future Fest is much more than a traditional career fair or career services event. At Johns Hopkins University, we firmly believe that our entire community can benefit from lived experiences and human connection. Designing your life is an ongoing process, and this annual experience aims to encourage exploration, uncover opportunities, and bridge connections so that our community of students feel confident designing a fulfilling life. Through that process, and as a part of Future Fest, our campus partners, alumni and employers all can benefit in their own life design and organizational objectives by being part of those experiences and making valuable connections with our students. Learn more about how Future Fest can support your needs.

Future Fest is Johns Hopkins University’s kickoff to integrative learning and life design. Each September, we provide our students with a full slate of events that help them understand what is available to support and inform their life design. Whether it be cultivating relationships with alumni, employers and campus partners, or understanding the available experiences and opportunities available, Future Fest will ensure our Blue Jays are making the most of their time at JHU.

With over a dozen events and experiences, there is plenty of opportunity for our broader community of Blue Jays to reach back and make meaningful connections with our students. If you are a Hopkins alumnus or alumnae, do not hesitate to reach out to get involved.

Future Fest is the first and most visible opportunity for our valued employer partners to get in front of the student population at Johns Hopkins. Yes, we offer opportunities for recruiters to engage with our students in a traditional career fair setting; however, there are additional opportunities to have deeper, more meaningful connections with our student population throughout the two-plus week experience

Join us for an insightful webinar on leveraging LinkedIn for career success.

In this one-hour session, students will be led through advanced LinkedIn strategies beyond basic job postings. Participants will learn how to:
1)  Gain an understanding on how to create an engaging profile to result in more attention from hiring recruiters.

2)  Gain an understanding on how to find people on LinkedIn with areas of interest to the student.

3)  How to search 2nd degree connections (often resulting in 4 to 100 times the number of a student’s own direct connections); then to ask those direct contacts to initiate an introduction to the targeted 2nd degree connection — hopefully to arrange a brief phone engagement about careers in a mutual field of interest. — taking pressure off the student to directly reach out to people of interest they don’t know.
