Black Graduate Student Association (BGSA)

Student Clubs

The mission of the BGSA is to foster an inclusive community of graduate students of the African diaspora and their allies that supports professional development, celebrates culture and excellence, and advocates for equity and belonging at Carey Business School and beyond.

Members of BGSA will receive:

1. Community & Belonging• Access to an inclusive space that affirms the cultures and experiences of students of the African diaspora and their allies.
• Opportunities to connect with peers across programs (MBA, MPH, MS, etc.)

2. Professional Development
• Exclusive workshops, networking events, and mentorship opportunities with alumni and professionals.
• Priority registration or discounted access to select career events and conferences.

3. Cultural & Social Events• Invitations to signature BGSA cultural, academic, and social events throughout the year.
• Members-only gatherings to build deeper connections.

4. Leadership Opportunities
• Eligibility to run for Executive Board or committee chair positions.
• Experience in event planning, marketing, and community engagement.

5. Visibility & Networking• Opportunities to be featured in BGSA spotlights, newsletters, and social media.
• Connections with employers and partners committed to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.

1. Providing a supportive network for students of the African diaspora and allies, including inclusive spaces, academic and professional resources, and access to mentorship.
2. Organizing academic, cultural, social, and professional events that strengthen community and belonging.
3. Promoting awareness of issues affecting Black communities and underrepresented groups.
4. Advocating for the needs and interests of members within Carey.
5. Fostering partnerships with faculty, alumni, and the broader Baltimore community.
6. Connecting with employers and organizations committed to advancing diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.
