Student Clubs

The Palliative Care Student Group’s purpose is to potentiate Palliative and Hospice Care knowledge, attitudes, and communication among SON students.

Opportunities to:
Network with Palliative Care experts from the community and within SON.
Connect with other SON cohorts, at both Master’s and Doctoral levels.
Enrich campus culture, with the support of an Academic Affairs yearly budget allowance. Host fun, educational, career building, and/or collaborative events. Connection to PCSIG faculty advisors who support group investigation into potential opportunities to influence future curriculum.

To increase awareness of patient-centered care using holistic nursing strategies.
Improving the quality of life for patients with a serious/life-threatening illness such as cancer, psychiatric and substance use disorders, sickle cell anemia, Alzheimer’s, COPD, heart disease, etc.
Fuel passion for advocacy roles that optimize symptom/pain management.
Cultivate opportunities to network and collaborate, true to Palliative Care ethos.
Pursuit of ongoing connection with expert RNs and other student groups to enhance campus culture.
Sustained use of creative methods for increasing SON nursing students’ understanding of end-of-life care (Hospice) and Palliative Care.
