Lily is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Johns Hopkins University. Her research focuses on understanding the effects of dynamic impact pressure and shear stresses on extremophiles towards applications related to planetary protection. She is broadly interested in the intersection of mechanics, biology, and planetary science to further push the field of astrobiology. Hailing from Connecticut, she earned her B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Columbia University, where she conducted research on the mechanical properties of cervix tissue during pregnancies. In her free time, she enjoys rock climbing, ice skating, and reading.
