What is Pharmacology?
Pharmacologists (not to be confused with pharmacists) are research professionals who utilize expert knowledge of pharmaceutical sciences to study and test the effects of drugs and medications on the biological systems of animals and humans. They may work to test medications to help prevent illness and disease, and may study other substances such as food products, gases, and dust to assess their risk of harm in foods as well as test side effects of substances. Though most pharmacologists work in laboratories, some do teach and/or work in a variety of other settings.
