For Students Campus Recruiting Policies
On-Campus Interviews and Virtual Career Fair 1:1 Meetings
We ask that all students attend any on-campus interview or 1:1 career fair meeting you sign-up for. If you are no longer interested in the role or employer, please contact the interviewer and Life Design Lab at least two business days beforehand. A cancellation less than two business days before, or failure to attend an interview or 1:1 meeting, will be considered a no-show.
Employer Partners
The Life Design Lab recognizes one of the common pain points for students is not hearing from an employer after applying for a role. To help combat this, we are working to develop strong relationships with employers. Employers can become partners of our office if they agree to:
- Post their job on Handshake and include the salary
- Update students regarding their application process in a timely manner
- Share hiring outcomes with the Life Design Lab
Employer Partner Disclosure
Please note that if you apply to any role through Handshake, the employer can disclose information regarding your hiring status.
Reneging an Offer from Interview with an Employer Partner
Johns Hopkins University believes students should be able to explore the options open to them to make responsible and well-informed decisions about employment offers. We want you to obtain the best opportunity for your needs, interests, and professional path. For this reason, we are asking employers to provide a reasonable time for students to make their decision: October 1st OR 2 weeks from an offer letter being extended, whichever is later.
We ask all students to be considerate in their reply to employers and meet with a Life Design Educator to discuss your options if you are feeling pressure to make a decision before you are ready. Once you accept an offer in writing, you have entered into a contractual agreement. It is expected that you will stop looking for other opportunities and abide by the signed contract. If unforeseen circumstances arise, we highly encourage you to meet with your LDE so they can support you through these challenges.
If you renege on an offer, you will be contacted by the LDL and asked to visit drop-in hours to meet with a Life Design Educator (LDE) within 2 weeks. Your Handshake account may be suspended if you fail to meet with an LDE within this timeframe or do not respond to their communication.
