Hopkins GMMA is part of a national organization that works to raise up the next generation of Christian healthcare professionals. The goal of HopGMMA is to provide an opportunity for students on campus to cultivate and develop their interests in serving communities through both medical and spiritual means, while also creating and developing a safe community of like-minded individuals, opportunities for Christian activities, mentorship, and inspiration in the healthcare field. GMMA aims to equip future healthcare professionals to deliver holistic care that incorporates not just physical needs, but spiritual needs as well.
Hopkins GMMA members will be able to travel on annual medical mission trips to Honduras, where they will partner with a local missionary and work alongside the local health department to provide needed healthcare to the community. During the medical mission trip, they will have the opportunity to shadow physicians and assist with in-take, triage, health education, and missional outreach while interacting with the community. They will also be able to receive professional and spiritual mentorship from doctors currently partnered with GMMA. Members will also be able to participate in any local volunteering/fundraising drives that the board organizes.
The mission of Hopkins Global Medical Missions Alliance (GMMA) is four-fold:
1. Help local churches to fulfill medical missions work around the world through connecting, teaching, and training
2. Empower the next generation of healthcare professionals to advance into the medical mission field through mentoring, training, supporting, and providing mission opportunities
3. Awaken mission-minded students and healthcare professionals to fulfill the Great Commission or missions through networking and partnering
4. Link students and healthcare professionals with global mission organizations
