Description
The New York State Democratic Assembly Campaign Committee (DACC) is seeking applications for the position of Field Researcher to conduct research necessary to run campaigns and participate in voter outreach efforts. The ideal candidate is an inquisitive self-starter with a passion for politics and a desire to help Democratic candidates win Assembly elections in New York State.
This is a permanent, full-time position based in Albany, NY and reports to the Deputy Political Director and a Campaign Coordinator. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until all spots are filled. Tentative start date April 15th.
Duties of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Assist in implementing campaign plans for Assembly districts across the state;
- Conduct district-specific research, including compiling and analyzing demographic data and election results;
- Produce detailed candidate and opposition research reports by compiling information from public sources including news clips, campaign finance disclosures, travel records and receipts, personal financial disclosures, property, court, and business records, and research databases, as well as in-depth research analyzing voting records;
- Monitor news and identify media opportunities;
- Interact with county Boards of Elections to obtain election and enrollment data;
- Contact voters via door-to-door canvassing, phone, and text programs
Requirements
- Minimum of 1 cycle of campaign experience as a staffer or volunteer;
- Knowledge and understanding of the political structures and key players in New York;
- Strong research skills and attention to detail;
- Excellent independent judgment and attention to sensitive situations and relationships;
- Ability to communicate effectively and tactfully both orally and in writing with elected officials, community organizations and other staff;
- Flexibility to quickly change projects in a fast-paced environment;
- Driver’s license and reliable car.
Familiarity with VoteBuilder, LRS, Google Suite, and/or Lexis Advance preferred but not required.
Additional Requirements:
DACC offers a hybrid setting with a current expectation that employees are in-office at least three days per week, subject to change. This position requires occasional travel along with periodic off-shift hours, including weekends leading up to Election Day. The ability to keep sensitive information confidential is a must.
Salary and Benefits:
- Employee is paid hourly. Rate is based off a $44,000/yr salary and is overtime eligible;
