Intern, Internal Audit — Denver, CO (Hybrid):

As an intern with the Western Union Internal Audit team, you will evaluate the design and implementation of policies, processes, procedures, and controls to provide independent assurance that Western Union’s risk management, governance, and internal control processes are operating effectively. You will be working with the audit team to help assess Western Union’s processes and controls from a risk-based perspective through the following:
Role Responsibilities
Audit Planning:
- Assist in the planning and take responsibility for executing/delivering work in line with it.
- Work closely with the Internal Audit Data Analytics team to develop testing strategies, highlight possible data analytics opportunities, and drive efficiencies in testing from the use of data analytics.
Audit Fieldwork and Testing:
- Evaluate business processes, policy and control implementation, and process workflows.
- Perform audit testing and documentation, with appropriate supervision, over various process areas, which may include Compliance, Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) Compliance, Financial Systems, Business Operations, Information Technology, and Cybersecurity.
- Identify gaps/issues in implementation of policy and processes.
Audit Reporting:
- Communicate audit findings and observations to management.
- Prepare reports for the business/audit management detailing the results of testing performed and associated work papers.
Audit Closure and Follow-up:
- Collaborate with business partners to balance business strategy with risk management controls.
Role Requirements
- Pursuing or completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or equivalent degree in Business,
- Technology, Accounting, Finance, or related area.
- Currently enrolled in a college degree program at the time the internship commences (college graduates are not eligible unless they are registered for Graduate School in the Fall).
- 18 years of age or older and qualified to work in the United States.
- Pass a pre-employment background check.
- Denver, Colorado based and able to work a hybrid on-site schedule.
- Relevant certification(s) in technology, finance, internal audit, or project management (CPA, CIA, CFA, CISA, CFSA, CCSA, CGAP, PMP, ACAMS, etc.) a plus.
- Prior audit experience is a plus.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong business communication (written and verbal) skills to succinctly convey audit results and findings.
- Project management and team management skills preferred.
- Ability to positively function within in a high-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with business partners.
- Ability to work independently and think critically with limited oversight.
- Ability to adapt and evolve in a global, diverse, and dynamic work environment.

Salary
The salary range is $25.00 – $35.00 USD per hour. Actual salaries will vary based on candidates’ qualifications, skills, and competencies, including credits/years of university education completed.
