Camp Weequahic, a co-ed residential summer camp in Northeast Pennsylvania, is looking for enthusiastic, fun-loving and qualified individuals that can help create a fantastic summer experience for our campers while earning internship credit. This position is for people that are hard-working, dedicated, and love to work with children. Counselors serve in a dual role, both living with children and teaching in one or more activity areas.
Camp Weequahic offers a wide variety internship opportunities. We are able to provide over 140 hours of supervised experience hours in your hired program area.
We are hiring interns who are Education Majors looking to get more hands-on experience working with and teaching children. Interns will teach an activity area or coach a sport for approximately six hours a day. Interns will write and implement lesson plans in their activity area and will get frequent feedback to increase the effectiveness and engagement of their instruction.
Interns will also live in cabins with campers and will learn what it means to care for the whole child. Previous education majors have mentioned how much working as a camp counselor informed their teaching methods once they were in the classroom because they had real-life experience connecting with and creating experiences for children.
We promise that this will not be your typical internship. Interning at Camp Weequahic is an awesome opportunity to gain hands-on experience, all while making a difference in the life of a child and have a ton of fun doing it! If you think you could be a positive role model, teach something you love, and are thrilled by the prospect of meeting hundreds of new friends from around the world while getting paid and earning internship credits, we would love for you to apply.
