A Message From Our Director
Dear reader,
If you’re new here, Hire Hopkins is a hiring office that empowers companies to work with and hire the best talent for them. A part of that is bridging equity gaps we find in hiring outcomes based on internal and national data. The other part of that is understanding hiring trends, recruiting best practices, what students are looking for, and sharing that with our wonderful hiring partners. We generally write about all of those subjects. As we plan out our year of content, which we write for you: we’d love to hear what you want to hear more about. Let us know here.
Speaking of content… about half of our hiring partners have made offers already and the other half are just starting their hiring. For those of you who are going to begin interviewing and/or screening candidates, we’ve put together a short + sweet guide for that very purpose: you can see it here.
Lastly, in our experience, bringing on international students is one of the biggest missed hiring opportunities we see our hiring partners face. We find they aren’t always familiar with OPT/CPT (allows you to hire international students for up to 3 years without sponsorship). My colleague Yasir Kurt is organizing a free hiring event representing over 120K international students across 17 universities (not just JHU but also my alma mater Carnegie Mellon, and Columbia, for example). International Career Collective Employer Expo
